The Lamphouse appointed exclusive distributor for Kino Flo and LiteGear in Southern Africa

Both brands were already working on South African sets and studios. The Lamphouse is now the exclusive distributor for Kino Flo and LiteGear in Southern Africa. We import both brands direct, hold them in local stock, service them here and supply the trade.

Two brands, two jobs on set

Kino Flo built its reputation on soft, colour accurate sources that cinematographers could trust on skin. Its current LED range carries the same discipline about colour rendering forward.

LiteGear made its name on flexible, riggable light. The LiteMat family and the tape based systems let a gaffer put a soft source where no fixture will physically fit. Practicals, car interiors, ceilings, and the awkward corners where the shot needs light and there is nowhere to stand a lamp.

Both sit under Chauvet Cinema, the cinematic lighting division formed after Chauvet acquired Kino Flo in September 2021 and LiteGear in January 2025.

The warranty is the part that matters

You could already buy these fixtures in South Africa. What you could not reliably buy was recourse.

A grey imported fixture is identical in the flight case. The difference shows up the day it fails. No local warranty claim, no local service, no spares without another import. A driver failure can take a fixture out of a rental fleet for a month, which costs more in lost hires than the saving on the purchase price.

We are the sanctioned route for both brands into Southern Africa, and that route is what carries the warranty. A fixture bought from us can be claimed, serviced and repaired here.

Stock on the ground. Held in South Africa, not quoted from overseas. A rental house that takes a booking on Thursday for a Monday shoot needs stock, not a lead time.

Service here. A fixture that fails on a Cape Town job should not have to go into a crate. Local service means local turnaround, and someone reachable in your own time zone who knows the fixture.

Spares and consumables. The parts that strand a fixture are rarely the expensive ones. A driver, a yoke, a cable, a diffusion frame. Held locally, those are a phone call.

Someone to ask. Branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, with specification advice from people who work with these fixtures rather than from a datasheet.

For a rental house all of that comes down to utilisation. A fixture sitting in a repair queue is not earning.

For the trade

We are building a reseller network across the region, and we would rather build it deliberately than let it assemble itself out of grey imports. Because we hold the import route for these brands, a trade account with us is the only way to sell them with a warranty behind you.

If you sell into film, television, studio or broadcast, we can supply you with:

  • Trade terms and account facilities
  • Stock you can commit to, held here rather than on a forecast
  • Warranty backing, so a claim from your customer is a claim you can honour
  • Spares without a separate import
  • Technical and specification support for the jobs you are quoting
  • Demonstration units, so your customer sees the fixture before they commit

If you have been importing these brands yourself, this is the conversation worth having. Same product, a warranty behind it, no import admin, and stock that is already in the country.
