Astron Energy · architectural LED · lighting by Lamphouse
Five trading companies under one fifty-year-old group, each working a single field: the lighting and critical technology that South Africa's hospitals, factories, growers, studios and stages run on. B-BBEE Level 2, with branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Each of the five companies is run by people who know its products and the people who install them. So when a hospital needs surgical lighting and critical-care equipment, or a grower needs grow lights and a warehouse retrofit, or a cinema chain needs projection lamps and architectural LED, one call reaches the right company, and a specialist who works that field picks it up.
Each company holds its own contracts, stock, leadership and supplier relationships. Entertainment runs as an active division inside The Lamphouse PTY LTD, and Maqcare keeps its own platform at maqcare.com. Choose the specialist below, or brief the group and we'll route it.

The original Lamphouse. Deep-catalogue distribution of cinema, projection, medical and specialty lamps, the obsolete-replacement desk that founded the group.

Cinema, film, broadcast and stage lighting: Rosco, Kino Flo, LiteGear, Manfrotto, Avenger. Run as an active division inside The Lamphouse PTY LTD.

Turnkey commercial and industrial LED, from in-house lux modelling and CAD layouts through to project-managed installation nationwide.

High-PPFD grow lighting, controls and full system design for commercial cultivators. Exclusive South African distribution for Fluence.

Clinical-grade light and equipment: surgical, examination, dental and ward systems for private and state healthcare. Compliance-aligned and serviced.

Critical-care equipment for hospitals: ventilators, anaesthesia and ICU. Exclusive SA Getinge appointment. Runs on its own platform, maqcare.com.
Thirteen exclusive South African distributorships sit across the group: the lines that make us specialists. Fluence for horticulture, Getinge for critical care, and a deep bench of specialty, medical and entertainment brands. Every item we supply carries a datasheet, a warranty and a serial number we can trace.

Plenty of suppliers will sell you a fixture. Far fewer will design with it, install it and stand behind it across five disciplines, which is why our public-sector and corporate clients keep coming back.
Send one brief and it goes straight to the trading company that handles that work, with a named specialist on the reply and a single point of accountability when a project spans more than one of them.
One enquiry, one named owner. Whoever picks up your brief stays on it, pulls in the other companies when a job needs them, and remains your single point of accountability from quote to handover.
Each company runs deep in one field rather than thin across many, staffed by people who know the products and the sites they go into. B-BBEE Level 2 contributor, with the documentation in your inbox the same day procurement asks.
Every brief is answered by a named specialist within one business day. Straightforward supply is specced on the spot. Audits, lighting design and large-project proposals get a scoped programme with committed dates, because a proper proposal is built on real audit and design data rather than a rough guess.
Holdings in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, with project-managed installation and trusted partners countrywide.
Lux & PPFD calculation, CAD drawings, compliance review, installation and lifecycle service, across any of the five companies.
A sample across healthcare, aviation, logistics, energy, financial services, leisure, retail and transport. Full reference list on request.

The Lamphouse was founded in 1976 by Cal Morris as a specialist lamp supplier to South African industry: from stage and studio, grips to projection and entertainment. When Glenn Morris took ownership in 2000, the business expanded nationally and diversified into the specialist companies that make up the group today: SLD in railway signalling; Maqcare in critical care, founded 2014 and appointed official South African distributor for Getinge Critical Care in 2025; Lamphouse LED Solutions and Lamphouse Medical Solutions in 2015; and Lamphouse Horticulture Systems in 2025. Fifty years on, the group operates from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban: a family business still built on technical know-how and long supplier relationships in the industries Southern Africa depends on.
